What Slate is

Slate is an electric truck built in Warsaw, Indiana. It starts as a two seat pickup and can be set up as a five seat SUV or a fastback. Slate says first deliveries are planned for late 2026. It uses the NACS charging port and Slate lists a projected range of about 205 miles for the standard battery.

The design leaves out things an EV does not need, like oil changes, spark plugs and an exhaust. Wear items like tires, brakes, suspension and the 12 volt battery still need care.

Slate warranty and roadside

Slate lists a 10 year or 110,000 mile battery and powertrain warranty, a 4 year or 50,000 mile limited vehicle warranty, and 4 years or 50,000 miles of roadside assistance. Read your own warranty booklet for what is covered and where Slate wants that work done.

Built to be fixed

Slate says its manuals are free and parts are easy to reach, and it runs Slate U with how to videos. That makes it easier for an independent shop to do the work right. Slate also points owners to a group of shops it lists; we are independent and not part of that list.

Questions people ask

Can an independent shop work on a Slate truck?
Slate says owners can use independent mechanics and publishes free manuals. For warranty repairs, contact Slate first. For maintenance and out of warranty work, we can help.
Does a Slate need oil changes?
No. Slate says there are no oil changes, spark plugs or exhaust. It still needs tire rotations, alignment, brake checks, cabin filters and 12 volt battery care.
What is the Slate warranty?
Slate lists 10 years or 110,000 miles on the battery and powertrain, and 4 years or 50,000 miles on the limited vehicle warranty, plus roadside for 4 years or 50,000 miles.
Will servicing my Slate at your shop void the warranty?
We cannot speak for Slate. Keep every invoice we give you and follow Slate's warranty booklet. Our invoices list the date, mileage, parts and work done.
Do you do body work, paint or wraps on Slate trucks?
We do body and paint repair, with a written estimate and photos before any work. For a wrap or accessory install, ask us first. For anything Slate's factory warranty may cover, contact Slate first.

Sprinter Garage is an independent repair shop. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Slate, and Slate does not own this shop. Slate and its marks belong to their owners. What your contract or plan covers is decided by Slate, not by the shop.
