EV repair

  • Check factory warranty and open recalls by VIN before we quote
  • Diagnose warning messages, reduced power and charging faults, and explain them in plain words
  • Test and replace 12V batteries that leave EVs dead in the driveway
  • Run a high-voltage battery health check with a written report
  • Track down charge port and onboard charger faults
  • Service EV brakes that rust from light use
  • Fit, rotate and align EV-rated tires
  • Send photos with every estimate and a text at each step

Signs you need this

  • A warning message you have not seen before
  • The car will not charge, or charges much slower than it used to
  • Range dropped more than the weather explains
  • The car is dead even though the big battery shows a charge
  • Brakes grind after the car sits for a few days

We run your VIN for factory coverage and recalls first. If the repair is covered, we tell you and you take it to the dealer. If not, you get a written price with photos before any work starts. Sales tax is charged on parts only. You choose the warranty on our work: 90 days, 1 year or 2 years.

Every EV brand in one place

Warranty work for each brand goes to its own dealer. Everything else can come to one shop. We work on Tesla, Rivian, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Chevrolet, Nissan, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Polestar and Lucid EVs, plus hybrids and plug-in hybrids.

Sprinter Garage is at 7217 SW 42nd St in Miami, one block south of Bird Road and just east of the Palmetto Expressway.

Warranty and recalls, checked before anything else

Several popular EVs have had recalls on batteries or charging parts, including the Chevrolet Bolt battery recall and charging unit recalls on some Hyundai and Kia models. Most EV makers also cover the battery and drive system far longer than the rest of the car.

So we start with your VIN. If the repair belongs to the manufacturer, we tell you and you take it to the dealer at no cost to you. If it does not, you get our written price.

What an independent EV shop handles

Out-of-warranty repairs, second opinions on a dealer estimate, 12V batteries, EV tires and alignment, brake service, charge port and onboard charger faults, EV diagnostics, and high-voltage battery health checks with a written report.

Most of those jobs never touch the high-voltage system. When a problem does point to the battery pack or drive unit, we explain the options in writing before anything is decided.

What South Florida does to EVs

Heat ages both batteries, the big one and the small 12V, so a dead car with a full charge is a classic South Florida EV problem. Humidity rusts the brakes that regenerative braking leaves idle. EVs are heavy and quick, so tires wear faster than on a gas car, and daily charging wears out charge port doors and latches.

All of that is easier to fix when you catch it early. A yearly check of the 12V battery, brakes, tires and battery health keeps small problems small.

Buying or selling a used EV

A used EV is only as good as its battery. Our high-voltage battery health check gives you a written report to take into the deal, and we check recalls and wear items at the same visit.

Questions people ask

Do you work on EVs other than Tesla?
Yes. Rivian, Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, Ioniq 5 and 6, EV6 and EV9, Bolt, Equinox EV, Leaf, ID.4, BMW i4 and iX, Mercedes EQ, Taycan, Polestar and Lucid, plus hybrids.
My EV is still under warranty. Should I bring it to you?
For anything the warranty covers, no. That goes to the dealer, and we tell you so after checking your VIN. For tires, brakes, filters and anything the warranty does not cover, yes.
Why does my Ioniq 5 or EV6 keep killing its 12V battery?
One known cause is the charging control unit that also keeps the 12V battery charged. Hyundai and Kia have issued recalls on it for some cars, so we check your VIN first. If it is covered, the dealer handles it. If not, you get a written price.
Do EVs need regular maintenance?
Less than a gas car, but yes: tires, brakes, the cabin air filter, coolant on the schedule in your manual, and the 12V battery.
Can you tell me how healthy my battery is?
Yes. We run a high-voltage battery health check and give you a written report.
How do I book?
Book online and pick a time. The shop confirms by text, and you get a written price with photos before any work starts.
