The independent option for Westchester
Tesla runs its own service centers and the other brands work through their dealers, and that is where warranty repairs and recalls belong. For everything else, Sprinter Garage is an independent shop at 7217 SW 42nd St, one block south of Bird Road and just west of SW 72nd Ave.
From the middle of Westchester, take Coral Way (SW 24th St) east to Galloway Road (SW 87th Ave), turn right and go south to Bird Road. Turn left and head east about a mile and a half, across the Palmetto, then turn right on SW 72nd Ave and right on SW 42nd St. That is about 9 minutes outside rush hour.
From FIU, take SW 107th Ave south to Bird Road, turn left and stay on Bird Road about 3.5 miles to SW 72nd Ave. That is about 15 minutes outside rush hour.
Heat, humidity and EV brakes
Regenerative braking does most of the stopping in an EV, so the pads and rotors barely work. In humid Miami air, rotors rust and caliper slides stick, and the first sign is often a grind after the car sits for a few days. A brake cleaning and lubrication usually comes before new parts.
Heat is also hard on the 12V battery that wakes the car's computers. When it gets weak, the car can show warnings or refuse to wake up, even with a full high-voltage battery.
