Sprinter Garage

Use your CarMax MaxCare plan at an independent Miami shop

If you bought a car at CarMax and added MaxCare, CarMax says you can take it to a licensed repair facility in the US or Canada, not only a CarMax service center. Sprinter Garage, near Bird Road and the Palmetto, can diagnose the problem, send MaxCare what it asks for, and bill the plan directly for what it covers.

CarMax at Sprinter Garage

  1. 1
Call or text before any repair

Tell us you have MaxCare and send your contract number. Do not sign off on a repair anywhere until the administrator has reviewed it.

  2. 2
    We diagnose and photograph

We find the cause on the lift and document it with photos, the mileage and the failed part.

  3. 3
    We contact the MaxCare administrator

We send the estimate and anything the administrator asks for. If it sends an inspector, we work with them.

  4. 4
    You get it in writing

Before work starts we tell you in writing what MaxCare approved, your deductible, and anything it will not pay for.

  5. 5
    We bill the plan directly

CarMax says MaxCare pays the shop for covered repairs. You pay your deductible and any part you chose to add.

  • A written price for your vehicle before any work starts.
  • Sales tax on parts only, never on labor.
  • You pick the shop warranty: 90 days, 1 year, or 2 years.
  • Photos with every estimate and a text at each step.

What MaxCare is

MaxCare is the optional extended service plan CarMax sells with its used cars. It is separate from the limited warranty that comes with every CarMax car, which varies by state. CarMax says MaxCare is handled by third party administrators.

CarMax describes coverage for systems such as the engine, transmission, drivetrain, electrical, steering, suspension, cooling and climate control. Your plan level and contract decide what is actually covered.

Where you can take your car

CarMax's own FAQ says you can take a MaxCare car to a licensed service facility in the US or Canada that gives its own warranty on parts and labor. At Sprinter Garage you choose our shop warranty: 90 days, 1 year or 2 years. Pick the length your contract asks for and we write it on the invoice.

CarMax lowers the deductible when covered work is done at its own service centers or at certain listed shops. We are an independent shop, so plan on your regular deductible here.

Common claims on Miami cars

Heat and stop and go traffic are hard on AC compressors, water pumps and transmissions. Used hybrids can show inverter or battery warnings. Whether any of these is covered depends on your plan.

Questions people ask

Do I have to go back to CarMax for MaxCare repairs?
CarMax says no. Its FAQ says you can use a licensed repair facility in the US or Canada that offers a warranty on its parts and labor. Read your own contract for any extra conditions.
Who pays the shop on a MaxCare claim?
CarMax says MaxCare pays the repair facility directly for covered repairs. You pay your deductible and anything the plan does not cover. We explain both in writing before work starts.
Can you handle a repair after my CarMax warranty ran out?
Yes. If the coverage is over or the part is not covered, we repair it as a normal job with a written price first.
What should I bring for a MaxCare claim?
Your MaxCare contract number, the current mileage, and any maintenance receipts. Administrators often ask for them on engine and transmission claims.
Can you inspect a car I just bought at CarMax?
Yes. A post-purchase inspection while you still have time under CarMax's return policy or limited warranty can find problems early.

Sprinter Garage is an independent repair shop. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by CarMax, and CarMax does not own this shop. CarMax and its marks belong to their owners. What your contract or plan covers is decided by CarMax, not by the shop.
