What Goodhood is

Goodhood sends mechanics to your home or office. Its site lists more than 90 services, like oil changes, batteries, brake pads, starters and alternators. It gives fixed upfront quotes, charges at the time of service, and its FAQ states a 24-month or 24,000-mile warranty on parts and labor. It also sells a Goodhood Club membership with free oil changes and a repair discount.

Goodhood's site does not list its service areas, so check the app to see if it serves your part of Miami.

When a shop visit can make sense

Driveway service works well for many routine jobs. Some work goes better in a shop: transmission diagnosis and repair, AC system leak testing and recharge, alignment, suspension work, and problems that need a lift to see. Vans and light trucks like a Sprinter or Transit can also be easier to work on inside.
