Sprinter Garage

Use your AUL service contract at a Miami repair shop

AUL contracts are now handled by Protective Asset Protection, the vehicle protection division of Protective Life. Protective says you may take the vehicle to any licensed repair facility unless your contract requires you to return to the selling dealer. If yours does not, bring it to Sprinter Garage and we start with a diagnosis and a call to Protective.

  1. 1
    Check your contract first

Look for any line requiring repairs at the issuing dealership. If there is none, send us your contract number and mileage.

  2. 2
    Diagnose without repairing

Protective says the shop must call to open a claim before it repairs, replaces or cleans any covered part. We diagnose and photograph only.

  3. 3
    Open the claim with Protective

We call Protective with the contract number, diagnosis and estimate, and work with the adjuster on the parts and labor.

  4. 4
    Written answer for you

You get in writing what Protective approved, your deductible and what is not covered. Then you decide.

  5. 5
    Repair, bill, proof

We repair, bill Protective for covered work and send proof of repair promptly. Protective says proof not sent within 90 days can lead to denial.

  • A written price for your vehicle before any work starts.
  • Sales tax on parts only, never on labor.
  • You pick the shop warranty: 90 days, 1 year, or 2 years.
  • Photos with every estimate and a text at each step.

AUL and Protective: who handles your contract now

AUL was founded in 1990 and was an early name in used car service contracts, sold through dealers and agents. Protective Life closed on its acquisition of AUL in May 2022 and folded it into its Asset Protection Division, known to customers as Protective Asset Protection.

If your paperwork says AUL, the claims, transfers and cancellations now run through Protective's existing customer pages.

Protective's claim rules, step by step

Protective's claims page sets out the order: give the repair facility your service contract number; the facility calls Protective to open a claim and get the OK before repairing, replacing or cleaning covered parts; once the adjuster approves, the facility provides a parts and labor estimate and bills Protective for covered repairs; you pay any deductible.

Protective also warns that failing to submit proof of repair within 90 days may lead to denial. We send the paperwork the same week the job closes.

What to bring

Bring the contract or the number, the current mileage, and your oil change and maintenance receipts. Records help when an adjuster asks about maintenance.

Questions people ask

Is AUL still in business?
AUL was acquired by Protective Life in 2022 and is part of Protective Asset Protection. AUL contracts are handled through Protective's customer and claims pages. Your contract terms still apply.
Can I use my AUL warranty at any repair shop in Miami?
Protective says you may use any licensed repair facility unless your contract requires you to return to the issuing dealership. Check your contract for that line. If it is not there, we can open the claim with you.
Does the shop have to call Protective before fixing my car?
Yes. Protective says the facility must call to open a claim and get the OK before repairing, replacing or cleaning any covered part. We diagnose first and wait for Protective's answer.
Who pays the shop on an AUL claim?
Protective says the repair facility bills it for covered repairs and you pay any deductible. We explain both in writing before work starts. Anything not covered is your decision.

Sprinter Garage is an independent repair shop. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by AUL, and AUL does not own this shop. AUL and its marks belong to their owners. What your contract or plan covers is decided by AUL, not by the shop.
