DOWC service contract? Call DOWC first, then here is how we help

DOWC contracts are sold by car dealers, and DOWC says you must contact it for instructions before any work, even diagnosis. Some contracts also ask you to return to a set shop near the selling dealer. If DOWC lets you use a licensed shop in Miami, Sprinter Garage can diagnose the car and work the claim with DOWC.

DOWC at Sprinter Garage

  1. 1
    Call DOWC before anything else

DOWC says work without its prior authorization, including diagnostic work, will be denied. Ask DOWC where the car may go.

  2. 2
    Ask about the tie-back area

DOWC says you may have to return to a set facility within a certain distance of the selling dealer. If you bought the car far from Miami, ask whether that applies.

  3. 3
Bring the car to us if DOWC clears it

Book online, or call or text us with your contract number and the name of the DOWC person you spoke with.

  4. 4
    Diagnosis and the DOWC call

We diagnose, take photos and call DOWC to begin the claim. You get in writing what DOWC approved and what is not covered.

  • A written price for your vehicle before any work starts.
  • Sales tax on parts only, never on labor.
  • You pick the shop warranty: 90 days, 1 year, or 2 years.
  • Photos with every estimate and a text at each step.

What DOWC is

DOWC, short for Dealer Owned Warranty Company, provides and administers service contracts and other protection products sold through car dealers, agents and automaker programs. DOWC says it does not sell directly to consumers. Its products include vehicle service contracts, maintenance plans, and coverage for EVs, commercial trucks and more.

Where DOWC lets you repair

DOWC says your selling dealer may have a preferred repair shop. You may be required to return the car to that shop if you are inside the tie-back area, a set distance from the selling dealer. If not, DOWC can help you find a licensed facility.

That means the honest first step is a call to DOWC. If DOWC sends you back to the dealer, we will not argue with your contract.

If DOWC does not cover it

Some repairs are not covered, and some cars are past their contract. We can repair those as regular jobs with a written price for your exact car, photos with the estimate, and your choice of shop warranty: 90 days, 1 year or 2 years.

Questions people ask

Can I take my DOWC contract to any shop in Miami?
Not always. DOWC says you may have to return to a preferred facility if you are inside the tie-back area near the selling dealer. Call DOWC first and ask.
Does DOWC pay for the diagnosis?
DOWC says diagnostic fees are covered on approved claims, but only if you got authorization before the diagnosis. Call DOWC before any shop touches the car.
I bought my car from a dealer far from Miami. Can I use a local shop?
Ask DOWC. If you are outside the tie-back area, DOWC says it can help locate a licensed facility. If it clears our shop, we take it from there.
Who calls DOWC to open the claim?
You call first for instructions. Then the repair facility calls DOWC with the diagnosis to begin the claim. We handle that part.
Can you just fix it and I'll file with DOWC later?
DOWC says work done without prior authorization will be denied. If you want to keep your coverage, we wait for DOWC. If you choose not to use the contract, we can fix it as a regular job.
